Heading into fall...
We want to welcome some new faces to the SEOW!

Tiasha Fernando Bachrach, Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment, Community Prevention and Early Intervention Evaluation Manager. In joining the SEOW as a co-chair, she is most excited to connect with other fellow data nerds and help contribute to strengthening Colorado's substance use and misuse prevention and intervention infrastructure.

Phatravit (Junior) Watanasiri, The Evaluation Center, SEOW coordinator. Junior will serve as a coordinator for the SEOW, organizing the day-to-day activities within the SEOW, the steering committee, and its workgroups.

The Colorado SEOW has invited Julia Stulken with the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment to present on alcohol outlet density. If you are unable to attend, you can view the presentation following the meeting by accessing the recording on our website.
PREVIOUS MEETINGS
In September, the SEOW invited Jamie Feld and Jim Sidanycz (Division of Community Engagement - Office of the Colorado Attorney General) to present on the Colorado Opioid Settlement Distributions Dashboard and lead a discussion of a future opioid outcomes dashboard.

New Alcohol Outlet Density infographic
Colorado SEOW
The Alcohol Policy Workgroup is part of the larger SEOW and was formed to research evidence-based policies to reduce excessive drinking. The work group has been focused on several projects related to effective alcohol policies and resources to support communities and decision-makers.

This infographic provides information on alcohol outlet density (AOD), including the importance of monitoring AOD, current density in Colorado, and useful resources for understanding AOD in your community.

Risk Factors for Opioid Use Disorder

Did you know that in 2020, it was estimated that over 2.7 million individuals aged 12 or older in the United States suffer from opioid use disorder?

Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report
Provisional estimates indicate that synthetic opioids, including illicitly manufactured fentanyl (IMF), were involved in approximately two thirds of an estimated 108,174 overdose deaths in the United States during the 12 months ending in April 2022. To read the full report, here.

2022 State Demography Summit,
Friday, November 4

This year's State Demography Summit marks the 40th anniversary of the State Demography Office presenting demographic trends shaping Colorado. Sessions will take a comprehensive look at the latest demographic and economic data, with a special look at the demographic impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic. There will be an update on Census 2020 products and data quality. Other sessions are still in development and will be released in early October.


Registration for this year's Summit is free of charge, and will open on October 4, 2022.
